The 8 Best Instagrammable Places in Berlin

Berlin is a city full of beauty, cultural charm, and history. Strolling through the German capital is a
real pleasure and it’s very easy to find beautiful corners wherever you go.

If you’re one of those travelers who loves taking tons of photos and sharing them on Instagram,
like us, here you will find some helpful suggestions to make your feed absolutely unmissable with stunning shots and to tell the world: “I was there!”.

The list of must-visit places is huge, but we want to help you find the best of Berlin and inspire you with the beauty that surrounds you.

In this post, we’re going to narrow it down to the 8 most Instagrammable places in Berlin that you (and your camera)
will fall in love with at first sight.

Don’t worry about the weather: it doesn’t matter if it’s sunny or if the day is cloudy and rainy; you’ll still be able to
photograph charming landscapes and convey different moods to your followers. Moreover,
many photographers agree that clouds are essential for taking a good photo because
they capture and diffuse natural light, creating a unique atmosphere.

Here’s our list of “insta-worthy” and “insta-perfect” places in Berlin, along with some tips
to take the perfect photo and share it on Instagram:

1. Brandenburg Gate

It's probably the most famous attraction and a true symbol of Berlin, reminding the world of the city’s magnificent history. Whether you want to photograph the best of Berlin or prefer
to find original and unique corners, you can’t miss the chance to take some photos at the
Brandenburg Gate.

Being one of the most visited places in Berlin, the Brandenburg Gate is not the easiest subject to
capture with a phone or camera, as it is usually surrounded by a lot of people during the day.

Tip: How can we avoid the crowd and still get an impressive photo? Easy! Try photographing it from the back. You won’t have the front of the statue, but you can capture the
magnificent columns. You can also get a good angle from the side of the gate. Seeing is believing!

2. East Side Gallery

Not far from Alexanderplatz, there’s another must-visit place for your feed. East Side Gallery is the largest outdoor gallery in the city and features iconic murals painted on a stretch of 1,316 meters of the original Berlin Wall.

The most famous murals, such as “My God, Help Me Survive This Deadly Love” by Dmitri Vrubel or the
eye-catching “Some Headswill” by Thierry Noir, are often especially in demand for photos, but
you’ll find plenty of Instagrammable corners among the 101 works that make up the gallery.

Tip: You can also expect quite a crowd here, including large groups on art tours, but you can use the time you spend in line to decide what to photograph and how to compose your shots.

Why not include some creative images showing one of the many meaningful slogans on the wall in your photo plan?

The mural “Many small people, who in many small places, do many small things, can alter the face of the
world” is undoubtedly one of the most impressive (and photogenic) graffiti in the gallery.

Location: Mühlenstraße 3-100, 10243 Berlin, Germany.

3. Alexanderplatz

With over 360,000 visitors a day, Alexanderplatz is one of the main public squares and one of the major transportation and commercial hubs in Berlin.

The Fernsehturm (TV Tower) can be seen from almost any point in the capital and features an impressive viewpoint at 204 meters high, while the Urania Weltzeituhr (also known as the World Clock) shows the 24 time zones of the planet.

Tip: Stand right in front of the clock and take a nice panoramic photo of the place.

4. Checkpoint Charlie

Another important piece of German history is just a photo away. Checkpoint Charlie is
located today at the same site as the original, which was one of the main American military strongholds
in the city during the Cold War, just a 2-minute walk from our Hotel Gat Point
Charlie.

The actors dressed as soldiers who take pictures with tourists for €3 can give this site a rather “touristy” vibe, but this attraction is so loaded with history that it is still worth including it in your Instagram photos.

Tip: Don’t leave without paying the actors after taking your photo: you could upset them a lot!

Location: Friedrichstraße 43-45, 10117 Berlin, Germany.

5. Markthalle Neun

What would an Instagram feed be without some food photos? Markthalle Neun (Market Hall Nine, in English) will be a feast for your eyes and a treat for your traveling palate.

Be adventurous and try fusion cuisine like a kimchi burger or an Indonesian-Dutch gado-gado... and don’t forget to take as many photos as you can before diving into some international dish or a German specialty.

Location: Spandauer Damm 20-24, 14059 Berlin, Germany.

6. Molecule Man

These impressive aluminum sculptures, depicting three men embracing, represent a powerful symbol of peace for the capital and can definitely be mentioned as part of the best of
Berlin. Molecule Man is a series of works designed by American artist Jonathan Borofsky and installed in many cities around the world.

Here, the bodies of the three men are filled with holes that represent the “human molecules” coming together to create a single existence.

Tip: Climb up to the nearby Oberbaumbrücke (Oberbaum Bridge) to get the best angle
for an Instagrammable photo.

Location: An den Treptowers 1, 12435 Berlin, Germany.
